If spanish is so easy, how come david beckham played in spanish league for 4 years, and never learned it?

If he didn't learn Spanish it was not because Spanish is a difficult language to learn because it's an easy one. He didn't learn it because he was lazy and didn't feel the need to learn it. They obviously have translators and there are probably many, many phrases related to the sport which all players become acquainted with.
