Can someone help me with an AP Essay question?

I suppose you could answer this question as a matter of morality and strict society that Prynne lived as opposed to the celebration and excess that was the Jazz Age of Jay Gatsby. Both of course were acted upon by their surroundings in a way. Gatsby made the better of it by using his small advantages to try to recapture the life he came so close to when he was young (namely Daisy). But back to the original point, Prynne was an outcast for really a pionate pursuit and suffered a severe price for that. Gatsby's time and place meant being born poor and trying to overcome it by doing whatever it took t be rich and squeezing his way into the world of the rich. But ultimately they suffered similiar fates of desperation. Gatsby portrayed more sentimentally and romantically.
