She I get rid of my dog because she's aggressive?

So I have a mix breed dog med size. Every since she was a puppy she has shown some food aggression with humans. She is now 8 months old. We keep her in our large kitchen with a babygate up so our toddler and her are somewhat separate. Today again she got a piece of chicken out of the garbage and I felt like a prisoner in my home. I didn't cross the gate to retrieve the chicken (bones are bad for dogs) because she was acting so aggressive. Tail in between the legs and her hair standing up with that look in her eyes. I have also noticed she gives me a weird look at times when I pet her on her backside area. It worries me with having kids around. I'm also worried she wouldn't be able to find a new good home because of this. I know she is a good dog and can be really sweet but her aggressive behavior worries me. Should we try to find her a new home ?
